ESTABLISHMENT OF NECTA EXAMINATIONS
The decision to establish NECTA was put into consideration in April 1971, when Tanzania Mainland got out of the East African Examinations Council (EAEC) to conduct her own examinations. Also, Zanzibar got out of EAEC in 1970. After this period Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar conducted their own examinations up to date.
Also The government of Tanzania decided to establish form two Examination FTN for assessing students to the next class of form three. These examinations helped much in making best students to form three than having poor performance in form four.

Aims of establishing FTN
- To ensure grading best students to form three class who expected for form four next year of studying
- To increase awareness to students. This examination encourages students to study that staying till form four class.
- Also, minimize number of students who fail form four class.
FTNA examination formats
- Examinations contain three sections. Those sections are Section A, section B and section C
- Section A comprises two questions. Question one has 10 items while question 2 has five items which form 15 marks.
- Section B comprises seven question comprises of seventy marks each question with total of ten marks.
- Section C comprises one question with total of 15 marks.
- From all sections above comprise one hundred marks of examination.
