SECONDARY EDUCATION IN ZANZIBAR
Education in Zanzibar is guided by both the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Zanzibar and Tanzania’s national education policies, though Zanzibar has its own curriculum adaptations.
1. Structure of Secondary Education

Ordinary Level (O-Level): 4 years (Forms I–IV). Students take national examinations (Zanzibar National Form Four Examinations and also NECTA exams in some cases).

Advanced Level (A-Level): 2 years (Forms V–VI). Students specialize in subject combinations (e.g., EGM – Economics, Geography, Mathematics).
